Search Tips

CrimeReports was unable to locate the address I requested. How else can I refine my search?
The Google Maps interface employed by CrimeReports.com may occasionally display incorrect locations or not recognize specific addresses. There are several possible solutions you can try:

Address Format
Try modifying your search terms to match one of the following formats:
"Address, city, state"For example: 1701 P Street NW, Washington, DC
"Address, city, ZIP"For example: 1701 P Street NW, 20036
"City, state"For example: Washington, DC
"ZIP"For example: 20036

Check for proper spelling
Searches cannot always recognize misspelled words or incomplete numbers such as in street addresses and Zip codes. Check to be sure that all words in your search address are spelled correctly and that all numbers are complete.

Capitalization
Searches are not case sensitive. All letters, regardless of capitalization or not, will be understood as lower case. For example, searches for Denver, Colorado, denver, colorado and dEnVer, cOlOrAdO will all return the same results.

Accuracy
Verify that the address is complete, including correct city, state and Zip Code.

Addresses with N, S, E or W designations (Ex. 6276 S. Boxwood Road)
Drop the N, S, E or W designation from the street number. For example, "6276 Boxwood Road" rather than "6276 S. Boxwood Road".

Addresses with N, S, E or W designations and two street numbers (Ex. 6472 W. 8375 S.)
Use the cross street intersection address as a proxy for the actual address, For example, "6430 West 8375 South" rather than "6472 West 8375 South".

Street names with an apostrophe (Ex. O'Keefe Ave)
Remove the apostrophe. For example, "OKeefe AveÓ rather than ŇO'Keefe Ave".

Street names that begin with "Saint" (Ex. St. Ann Street)
Spell out the word "Saint" rather than abbreviate as "St." For example, "Saint Ann Street" rather than "St. Ann Street".
